Well it’s what we’ve all been waiting for! It’s nearly time for the lifts to open for Mountain biking again.
Champery is getting in their first, opening on 20th May. They’ve been building new trails over there too so can’t wait to get over there and see what they’ve created.
Les Gets is hot on their heels opening on Thursday 25th May for the French bank holiday and staying open for the long weekend till Sun. It’s also open the following weekend and is opening fully from the 10th June for the celebration of all things mountain biking that is Crankworx!!
Crankworx kicks off in Les Gets on Wednesday 14th of June with the eagerly anticipated whip off, and goes on till Sunday 18th. During this time you’ll be able to see the Dual Speed and Style (Thursday) the Pump Track Challenge (Fri), the Downhill race (Sat) and finishing it all off the Slopestyle on Sunday, despite being changed to a best trick competition last year this was incredible so don’t miss it! Also new this year on Sunday the AIR DH race down ‘dans le gaz’ on Mt Cherie. This is open to the public - if you’re feeling brave!

Avoriaz and the rest of the Portes du Soleil are opening on the 23rd June for the 14th edition of the Passportes du Soleil. This world famous event incorporates an 80 km tour of the whole Portes du Soleil Mountain Bike area using 15 lifts in 2 countries and has events on at all the main towns and villages around the route. This is a must do if you want to see just how much there is on offer to ride here.
From the 23rd onwards you’ll be able to ride the whole of the Portes du Soleil all summer long. Making the most of its 12 resorts incorporating 21 lifts and over 600km of trails!
The eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted some new berms and jumps under the Seraussaix lift this winter (well maybe not that hard to spot what with the lack of snow!) Looking forward to trying them out when it opens. We’ll keep you updated on any other new developments as we hear about them.
On 1st - 4th August there’s the French Youth Mountain Bike Championships in Morzine. Should be exciting to see the up and coming talent racing here.
All in all it’s looking like a fun pack summer here on the Mountain bikes – look forward to seeing you on the trails!
