Our Resort Manager Michelle on why she chose to do a season in Morzine:
I have always had a great interest in traveling and have been fortunate enough to see many parts of the world, this season a decided to combine one of my favorite hobbies, snowboarding and head for the mountains. I spent time looking at where I might want to spend 6 months of the year and decided upon Morzine for various reasons. Having already done a winter season in Canada I was aware of how to go about finding accommodation and work, I also knew how doing a winter season feels like your living in a bubble with little desire to keep up with news at home or leave the mountains unless absolutely necessary.
I’ve been here for about 7 weeks now and don’t feel like I’ve scratched the surface of exploring the Portes Du Soleil ski area. With over 650km of pistes I know that each day I can go discovering new areas of the mountain and come home feeling satisfied with my day. It’s great being able to ride all the way to Switerzland and back in a day and a bonus if you go with someone who knows where some powder is hiding.
As much as the daytime activities are fun, the apres in Morzine has been great getting to know aswell. There are plenty bars and clubs to choose from, one of my favorites is Beanies where they have live music on some nights and a great selection of drink and cocktails.
As well as enjoying the slopes as often as possible there are lots of other activities that Morzine has to offer, swimming, walking, supporting the local ice hockey team and eating lots of cheese fondu are just some of the activities I’ve tried so far.
In order to fund some of my winter season in Morzine I got a job with Mountain Lets, working for the self catered apartment and chalet company has allowed me to get to know Morzine even more. I’ve been able to appreciate the beautiful countryside, especially when driving up the Nyon Valley as the sun rises on a bluebird day. I’ve had the opportunity to meet lots of lovely guests excited for their Morzine holiday and work with other seasonaires in a similar situation to mine. Long hours and getting around Morzine in the snow can be hard at times but the reward of living in the beautiful mountains makes it all worthwhile.
I’m really looking forward to the next few months of the season and with all the new snow it can only get better.
