This year we have been wonderfully lucky with 2 beach holidays, once in May to the south of france and once in the autumn to Hossegor. Now I do love the beach, the smell of the air, the salt spray, the wide panoramic views and the sense of peace whilst sat gazing out to sea. A sentimental and romantic view perhaps when the reality can be sand everywhere and biting winds but when you think of the seaside it creates post card images in the mind and happy thoughts. Despite this picture perfect image if I had to choose between the beach and mountains I know where my heart lies and that's with the mountains - clearly! It is after all why we chose to settle in Morzine. There is something so appealing about the 4 distinct seasons; snow filled winters with skiing and snowboarding in one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world, lush spring seasons where vibrant greens come to life, balmy summers filled with activity and colourful calm autumns with lots of walking and the homefires strating to light. Perhaps this could also be considered a sentimental view but as we are priveliged enough to live in the mountains this is actually a reality of life for us.
The debate between beach and mountains has been a long standing point of discussion between us and our friends whom are now spread aross the whole planet but there is a slight majority to the mountains, predominately because of the skiing and snowboarding admittedly. Whatever your choice there are some truely magical places in the world and whilst there are many that we still wish to visit our hearts firmly lie in the French Alps and Morzine.
